Tipsinah Mounds Campground

Sheltered by towering oaks and bordered by a softly lapping lake, Tipsinah Mounds Park & Campground is located in the west-central region of Minnesota.

A public boat launch, sandy swimming beach, well-built picnic shelters, full camping facilities that include electric, water, sewer, and tenting are available. Clean lighted bath facilities and an on-premise caretaker lend to the well-being and safety of campers. Free internet WIFI is available for your convenience. Nearby is the Tipsinah Mounds 18-hole Golf Course.

We have a 20’x80′ FEMA approved concrete storm shelter on the grounds for your safety and protection!

Spacious grounds, whispering leaves, gurgling waters, quiet sunsets and warming sunrises blend with the long ago mystery of Native American History.

Tipsinah Mounds Park & Campground is owned and operated by the City of Elbow Lake.  Your caretakers are Miah and Val Ulrich.

Pomme de Terre Lake is 4 miles long, encompassing over 1,700 acres. Quality family fishing includes walleye, northern and large mouth bass. Pomme de Terre River runs through the lake, with a low water dam located on the south end of the lake, just off the campground. This provides excellent fishing from shore.

Tipsinah Mounds Park & Campground is the only Park / Campground located on Pomme de Terre Lake.

YOUR SAFETY

The park and campground are routinely police-patrolled and caretakers live on the grounds. Both aspects lend to the well-being and safety of campers.

In 2010 the City of Elbow Lake decided to build a storm shelter at the Tipsinah Mounds Campground.  The shelter is 20 x 80, 1,600 square feet and features concrete block construction, a poured concrete floor and ceiling.  The building has no windows, but is vented and has electricity with a battery backup.  There is no running water or plumbing in the building, but a handicapped accessible port-a-potty is installed inside.  It was designed with FEMA safe room specs.
